PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a compound active material that allows suppressing the degradation of an active material and reducing an impurity in a coat layer.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a compound active material having an active material and a coat layer provided on a surface of the active material and containing ion-conducting oxide includes: a coating-film formation step of forming a coating film by coating, on the surface of the active material, coat-layer coating solution containing an alkoxide compound used as a material for ion-conducting oxide under an atmosphere of a lower dew-point temperature than the dew-point temperature at which the active material degrades; a hydrolysis promoting step of promoting hydrolysis of the alkoxide compound by exposing the coating film under an atmosphere of a higher dew-point temperature than the dew-point temperature of the coating film formation step; and a heat treatment step of forming the coat layer by heat treatment of the coating film after the hydrolysis promoting step.
