The method involves providing the tire with a machine-readable and human-readable marking (2) on its inner running tread (1), where the marking comprises alphanumeric characters and is applied with a high contrast and temperature resistant paint. The marking is printed or stamped and is applied by a manually operated printer or by an automatic printing device. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a marking device for marking a tire of a vehicle; (2) a reading device for reading a marking on a tire; and (3) a device for an installation for processing, particularly retreading of tires for vehicles.
