PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adhesive for a polarizing plate that is used for manufacturing a polarizing plate by laminating a polarizer and a transparent protective film to each other, and is capable of giving excellent optical characteristics to a polarizing plate and suppressing leakage of light on a short wavelength side.SOLUTION: An adhesive for a polarizing plate is used for providing a transparent protective film on at least one side of an iodine-based polarizer, and is a resin solution that contains a polyvinyl alcohol resin and a water soluble reductant. The amount of 1 to 50 parts by weight of the reductant is contained relative to 100 parts by weight of the polyvinyl alcohol resin.
