The LVDS signal output by a baseband IC 110 is converted to an SLVS signal, suitable for input to an RF IC 120, by use of a buffer 210 and a voltage divider 224,226. The buffer 210 enables existing baseband ICs with LVDS interfaces to be used without modification because adherence to the LVDS standard in the IC may be relaxed. The resistor 222 improves impedance matching and the capacitor 230 blocks wasteful DC current. The SLVS signal output by the RFIC may be converted to an LVDS signal, suitable for the baseband IC, by the use of amplifying buffers (figure 3). The interface is simpler and less costly than an arrangement comprising a custom-made ASIC. |
