The invention relates to a system and method for protecting assets against theft, using electromagnetic containment techniques comprising at least one radiant wireless element which generates an electromagnetic containment space that is adapted to the specific shape of possible individual scenarios, with the asset being placed inside said space. If the protective device that is affixed to the asset detects that it is leaving the containment space but fails to receive a surveillance code emitted by the radiant elements it will activate an audible local alarm and, via a communication unit, a digital alarm managed by an external platform.
