PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light-emitting element and a light-emitting device with high color rendering.SOLUTION: A light-emitting element according to one embodiment comprises: a semiconductor substrate; an n-type layer provided on the semiconductor substrate; a light-emitting layer provided on the n-type layer, and having a multiquantum well structure in which a plurality of barrier layers and a plurality of well layers are laminated alternately; a p-type layer provided on the light-emitting layer; and an overflow prevention layer that is provided to at least one of between the light-emitting layer and the n-type layer and between the light-emitting layer and the p-type layer, that has a bandgap larger than that of the barrier layer, and that is provided for preventing carrier overflow. An average refractive index of the barrier layer and the well layer is lower than a refractive index of layers above and below the light-emitting layer other than the overflow prevention layer. |
