PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drug delivery vehicle for osteoinductive proteins, which is biocompatible, readily resorbable, and not detrimental to drug activity.SOLUTION: The problem is solved by providing a composition for treating a mammal having bone defect. The composition comprises an osteogenic protein, a calcium phosphate material as a carrier, and an effective amount of an effervescent agent. A method of using the composition and a method of using the osteogenic composition to treat osteoporotic and/or osteopenic bone are also disclosed. A composition for treating the mammal having bone defect, the composition comprising an osteogenetic protein as a bioactive factor, a calcium phosphate material as a carrier, and an effective amount of an effervescent agent is also provided. |
