<p>4-(1,3,5-Triazin-2-yl)benzene-1,3-diol derivative (I) is new. 4-(1,3,5-Triazin-2-yl)benzene-1,3-diol derivative of formula (A-X-(T) n) (I) is new. A : 4-(1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)benzene-1,3-diol moiety of formula (II); Y1, Y2 : substituted biphenyl moiety of formula (IIb); r : 0 or 1, preferably 1; R1-R3 : 6-12C aryl, 3-12C heteroaryl (both optionally substituted by 1-12C alkyl, 1-12C alkoxy, CN and/or halo), H, OH, 1-20C alkyl, 4-12C cycloalkyl, 2-20C alkenyl, 1-20C alkoxy, 4-12C cycloalkoxy, 2-20C alkenyloxy, 7-20C aralkyl, halo, -CN, 1-15C haloalkyl, -SO 2R11, -SO 3H, -SO 3M, -COOR11, -CONHR11, -CONR11R22, -OCOOR11, -OCOR11, -OCONHR11, (meth)acrylamino or (meth)acryloyloxy; M : alkali metal cation; R11, R22 : 6-12C aryl, 3-12C heteroaryl (both optionally substituted by 1-12C alkyl, 1-12C alkoxy, CN and/or halo), H, 1-20C alkyl or 4-12C cycloalkyl; X : open-chain linker of C, O, N, S, P and/or Si in the chain (optionally substituted); T : -O(C=O)-CH=CH 2or -O(C=O)-C(CH 3)=CH 2; and n : 2-5. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a coating composition, comprising (I) and at least one organic solvent; (2) coating substrates, comprising (a) applying a layer of the above coating composition on the substrate, (b) removing at least one portion of the solvent from the layer obtained in step (a), and (c) curing the layer obtained in step (b); (3) coatings prepared from the above coating composition; and (4) an article comprising at least one substrate and at least one above mentioned coating.
