The airbag module (1) has a gas generator (2) for generating gas, where the gas generator has a gas generator body with body sections (4a to 4c). An airbag (6) is connected with the gas generator in fluidic manner and is inflatable with the gas from the gas generator. A gas-tight sleeve (9) surrounds the airbag and the gas generator, where the sleeve has openings (10a to 10c) through which the body section of the gas generator body projects. The airbag module also has closure portions (7a to 7c) for sealing the openings. The closure portions are connected in gas-tight manner with the sleeve or with the body sections. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing an airbag module.
