A gauge for detecting a principal stress direction is provided to make a principal direction of stress exerted to a structure visible, since a ligament can be broken in the principal stress direction while controlling the breakage of the ligament by adjusting the shape and depth of a notch that forms the ligament. A gauge(10) for detecting principal stress direction is characterized in that a plurality of through holes(11) each having the same notches(12) on opposite sides are radially arranged at regular intervals so as to form a ligament(13) by no-through area formed between the notches of the through holes. |
