PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display instrument that is capable of performing electrical alignment and is compact and low in manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: A projection type display instrument includes: a light source that emits a light beam; a holographic liquid crystal element that converts the light beam emitted from the light source into reproduction light forming a given image or allows passage of the light beam, according to applied voltage; and a phosphor plate that includes a phosphor that absorbs the reproduction light incident from the holographic liquid crystal element and radiates visible light.
