PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine allowing a user to easily set a position on processing cloth to be sewn.SOLUTION: A sewing machine detects a thickness of processing cloth (S11). When a user specifies any position on the processing cloth by using an ultrasonic wave pen, the ultrasonic wave pen transmits an ultrasonic wave, while outputting to the sewing machine a transmission start signal indicating that the transmission of the ultrasonic wave is started. The sewing machine comprises two receivers for receiving the ultrasonic wave. When the receivers detect the transmission start signal (S13:YES), the sewing machine specifies transmission timing T1 (S14). When the receivers detect the ultrasonic wave transmitted from the ultrasonic wave pen (S15:YES), the sewing machine specifies detection timing T2 of the ultrasonic wave (S18), and calculates an arrival time of the ultrasonic wave at the two receivers (S20). The sewing machine specifies a transmission source of the ultrasonic wave on the processing cloth, that is, the position specified by the user using the ultrasonic wave pen (S22). |
