A configuration is stored or encoded in the master sensor or the slave sensor and utilized for connection of the slave sensor or the master sensor. The configuration comprises a certain mode or a number of parameters. An exchangeable terminal and a non-interchangeable terminal are arranged between the sensors. The light curtain is designed as a safety sensor.</p>
