The metrology system (100) includes a mask (140), a zoom lens assembly (150), and a light element (120). The mask (140) includes patterns to be projected on a surgical site of interest to measure dimensions thereof. The zoom lens assembly (150) includes a plurality of lens elements (Li, L2, L3). At least one lens element of the plurality of lens elements (LI, L2, L3) is movable relative to each other. The light element (120) propagates light beams (130) through the mask (140) and the zoom lens assembly (150) to project the patterns of the mask on the surgical site of interest.
