PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for inexpensively, easily and surely shielding radiations radiated from various forms of radiation generation sources to an arbitrary shield factor.SOLUTION: A radiation shielding material has the shape of a flexible sheet or plate molded by equally distributing a powdery shielding material made of barium sulfate and/or ion-containing material and having the average particular diameter of the range of 0.01-50 μm in a binder made of a thermoplastic resin and/or thermoplastic elastomer, in which a percentage content of the powdery shielding material is 40-95 wt%, and a radiation shielding rate per sheet is 0.3-50% at a reduction rate of a space dose rate when measured by a cesium 137 standard source. In a radiation shielding method, at least one layer of a radiation shielding layer is formed around the radiation generating source or so as to cover and hide the radiation generating source by using the radiation shielding material. |
