The invention relates to a method for the in vitro prediction of the probability of a patient developing severe dengue, based on a blood sample. More specifically, the invention relates to a method for the in vitro prediction of the probability of a patient developing severe dengue based on a blood sample, which involves: a) determining the quantity of at least one marker, and b) comparing said quantity with a reference quantity obtained from a group of individuals who have been diagnosed with non-severe dengue and, if the quantity determined in step a) is greater than the reference quantity established in step b), predicting that the patient will develop severe dengue. Said marker is leucine-rich alpha 2-glycoprotein. The invention can also involve determining the quantity of vitamin D binding-protein and/or ferritin. The invention also relates to the use of predictive marker(s) and a kit to predict the development of severe dengue. |
