The pressing device (1) comprises a pressing plate (4), which is movably arranged in a pressing trough (2), such that the pressing plate partially passes through the pressing trough in the direction of a pressing aperture (11), and partially runs in the pressing aperture, at whose side a container (3) is connectable with the pressing device facing away from a pressing hopper (6). The pressing plate or the pressing aperture comprises an edge formed as a shearing edge (13,14). The pressing plate is connectable with a pressing piston in a detachable manner. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a pressing device.
