PURPOSE: A method for producing hydroxylated cyclosporin A is provided to highly produce 4- (gamma-hydroxy)-CyA and to develop and produce various agents for promoting hair growth. CONSTITUTION: A cytochrome P450 hydroxylase (CYP) has an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1, and mediates hydroxylation of cyclosporine A (CyA). CYP is derived from Sebekia benihana. A polynucleotide encodes CYP. A method for producing 4- (gamma-hydroxy)-CyA comprises the steps of: preparing an expression vector containing each polynucleotide encoding CYP and electron transferase; transducing the expression vector to a host cell and preparing a transformant; culturing the transformant and collecting a culture; and collecting 4- (gamma-hydroxy)-CyA from the culture.
