PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a programmable control technique by which self-diagnosis processing is also executed in a short-period single loop.SOLUTION: A CPU 20 mounted on a programmable control device comprises: a signal processor 22 that consecutively processes inputted external signals 16 in accordance with a program on a memory 15; a data acquiring unit 26 that acquires data from an n-th block out of a plurality of blocks into which the area of the memory 15 is divided; a diagnostic unit 30A that diagnoses the soundness of the n-th block on the basis of the acquired data to stimulate the processing of the next external signal 16; and a block designating unit 25 that causes the soundness of the (n+1)-th block to be diagnosed after the next external signal 16 is processed.
