<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in that, although a conventional recorder has been proposed that, when an urgent report message is received during recording of a program, in order to record the urgent report message together with the program, extracts and records the urgent report message, and performs recording in such a manner that the extracted urgent report message is superimposed on a video picture at the end of a recording time zone, for a program such as a live broadcast news program in which the content of an urgent report message is reflected, extracting this message makes it impossible to grasp the program when it is played later. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided an image recorder having a function of displaying an urgent report message and including: a first determining unit that determines whether a program being recorded is a live broadcast; a second determining unit that identifies content attributes of the program being recorded; a third determining unit that determines whether or not to perform recording of an urgent report message received by using the determined result by the first determining unit, the determined result by the second determining unit, and a predetermined rule.
