The sensor (2) has a transmission-reception antenna system (4) transmitting radio electric wave and receiving the wave reflected by a surface of an aircraft. The antenna system has a transmission module (10) to transmit the electric wave according to transmission directions, where each direction is defined by an associated angular value provided by an angular sector based on frequency deviation. The angular value is associated with transmission frequency. A digital processing module (16) provides a set of distance information, where each information corresponds to transmission direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for obtaining distance information with respect to a surface of an aircraft equipped with a radio electric sensor.
