In a display device, a holding frame projects in a direction substantially at right angles to the back face of a display panel (liquid crystal panel (1)); it has a placement section that is elongated in the direction along the side face of this display panel (liquid crystal panel (1)). A heat radiating body (heat spreader) is placed along the length direction of this placement section; information (rank information) relating to light emitting elements (white LEDs) is written on the other face of the substrate (base plate); and an aperture (window (46)) is provided in a position corresponding to the placement position of the aforementioned information (rank information) on the face where the substrate (base plate) of the heat-radiating body (heat spreader) is fixed.
