<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device capable of providing appropriate collision safety control in accordance with a characteristic of an object detected by a radar and driving environment of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle control device includes; collision safety control means which provides safety control in order to avoid or mitigate collision with an object that has a reflection point thereon based on locational information of the reflection point outputted by locational information output means; and collision safety control canceling means which computes an index value that tends to increase as the shift of the reflection point in the direction perpendicular to the traveling direction of the vehicle continues to be less than a prescribed amount and, if the index value exceeds a threshold value, instructs the collision safety control means not to provide collision safety control associated with the reflection point. When the vehicle is found to be driving near the start of a curved road, the collision safety control canceling means raises the threshold value higher compared to the case where the vehicle is not found to be driving near the start of the curved road. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
