<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat slide device for vehicles, having an upper rail fixed to a seat and a lower rail fixed to a vehicle floor, which are bent so that the tangential direction of moving trajectory of the upper rail is steeply inclined relative to a horizontal direction as the upper rail goes to the rear, while improving operability in moving the seat forward without any discomfort. <P>SOLUTION: A coil spring 30 in a housing member 11 assists the seat moving forward by biasing force that increases as the upper rail 5 goes to the rear, in a range from a predetermined intermediate position to the rear end position of the upper rail 5, between the front end position and the rear end position of the upper rail 5.
