The tool (10) has an inner radial holding unit (30) and an outer radial holding unit (36) for retaining a circlip (14) with a radius such that the circlip is retained between the radial holding units. The circlip is stripped-off in an axial direction from the radial holding units by a stripping unit (28) such that the circlip occupies another radius after stripped-off of the circlip. Positioning of the circlip in an assembly state is examinable by a tester. A spacer is provided at an axial end of the tool and radial inwardly displaced relative to the inner radial holding unit. An independent claim is also included for a tool for assembling of a circlip.
