<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for deciding reaction time, capable of deciding the reaction time for reaching a desired flow temperature (FT) almost without having an error in the synthetic reaction of an aromatic liquid crystal polyester. <P>SOLUTION: The reaction time in the synthetic reaction of the aromatic liquid crystal polyester can be decided by obtaining the time required for reaching the flow temperature (FT) of the reaction mixture to a target flow temperature of the reaction mixture during the polymerization reaction, using formula (I) in the synthetic reaction for obtaining the aromatic liquid crystal polyester: (I) t=-(1/k)xln[1-(FTg-FTp)/(FTm-FTp)]+p, wherein t is the time (min) from the initiation of the polymerization to reach FTg, k is the rate constant (min<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>), FTg is the target FT (°C), p is the elapsed time (min) from the initiation of polymerization, FTm is the maximum FT (°C) in the reaction system, and FTp is the FT (°C) of the reaction mixture after p min from the initiation of polymerization. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
