The display unit (10) has a front face and a rear face connected along two longitudinal edges (13, 14). A volume maintaining element (20) extends between the front and rear faces, and adopts a position, when the display unit is closed, in which the front and rear faces are adjacent, and another position, when the display unit is open, in which one of the faces is deformed and spaced from the other. The volume maintaining element switches from the former to the latter position under the effect of gravity when a longitudinal axis (X) is horizontal and the front and rear faces are spaced apart. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for setting up in volume of the display unit (2) a method for closing the display unit.
