<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer and an optical transmission system, reducing a number of remote base stations incapable of normal communication with a centralized base station to the minimum, in the event of a failure in an optical fiber. <P>SOLUTION: In a radio communication system, an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer 30 for coupling with a centralized base station 10 and a remote base station 40 includes: a first terminal and a second terminal for receiving a downlink optical signal transmitted from the centralized base station 10 through the optical fiber; a first photoelectric converter unit 323 for converting a first downlink optical signal received at the first terminal into a first downlink radio signal; a second photoelectric converter unit 323 for converting a second downlink optical signal received at the second terminal into a second downlink radio signal; and a synthesizer unit 324 for synthesizing the first downlink radio signal with the second downlink radio signal, and for transmitting the synthesized downlink radio signal to the remote base station 40. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
