The purpose of the present invention is to provide an ore slurry production method, which inhibits an increase in the viscosity of the ore slurry so as to prevent faulty transfer, and a metal refining method that utilizes the ore slurry production method. The present invention includes: a crushing/classification step (S1) in which a raw material ore is crushed, classification is performed and oversized ore particles are removed at a predetermined classification point in order to obtain a crude ore slurry comprising undersized ore particles; a grain size measurement step (S2) in which the grain size of the obtained crude ore slurry is measured; and a ore slurry concentration step (S3) in which the crude ore slurry is fed into a solid-liquid separator, and moisture is separated and removed in order to concentrate the ore element. When the grain size measured in the grain size measurement step (S2) has become lower than a predetermined value, some of the oversized ore particles that have been removed in the crushing/classification step (S1) are additionally fed into the solid-liquid separator. |
