Video-tape wear in a helical-scan recorder is reduced by providing a tape air-bearing by means of longitudinal grooves 14 in the guidedrums 1, 2 under the tape-run. The head-disc 4 is bladed at 15 and air sucked in through filters 12 is forced out of the inter-drum gap 3 with which the grooves 14 communicate. The outer ends of the grooves 14 are terminated just inside the helical lines of the tape edges, Fig. 2. |
