Disclosed are a method and for determining a terminal working bandwidth and a terminal. The method comprises: a terminal obtaining a system bandwidth in system broadcast; the terminal comparing the obtained system bandwidth with a bandwidth supported by the terminal; the terminal determining a working bandwidth thereof according to a comparison result. By means of the present invention, the terminal determines the working bandwidth thereof according to the system bandwidth in the case that the working bandwidth of the terminal is different from the system bandwidth.
