<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle surroundings monitoring system that verifies conditions in the back and lower sides of a vehicle, according to the vehicle speed. <P>SOLUTION: A door mirror device 10 includes a camera 18 for imaging the back side of the vehicle, and a reflection mirror unit 20 having a reflection mirror that advances and retreats on an optical axis of the camera 18. When a vehicle speed is equal to or less than a predetermined value, the reflection mirror advances on the optical axis with an inclination with respect to an optical axis of the camera 18, to allow the camera 18 to receive an image of the lower side of the vehicle, which is reflected by the reflection mirror. When the vehicle speed exceeds the predetermined value, the reflection mirror is retreated from the optical axis of the camera 18, to allow the camera 18 to directly receive the image of the back side of the vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
