1,061,632. Electrostatically supported aircraft. H. W. VON ENGEL. Feb. 25, 1964 [March 7, 1963], No. 7883/64. Headings B7G and B7W. A three-dimensional spiral flying body is electrically charged by emitting charged particles to enable it to hover in an electrostatic field produced by this emission. The flying body is preferably mounted on, or embedded in the surface of a non-conducting, preferably hollow, carrying body which may for example be a body of revolution or a rectangular prism. Two flying bodies (21), (22) (Fig. 10, not shown) may be carried on one carrying body. The carrying body may have a triangular wing (26) (Fig. 10, not shown), or annular wings (Figs. 8, 9 and 20, not shown). (Figs. 11-19, not shown) give examples of the cross-section of the flying bodies. |
