1,073,297. Klystrons. VARIAN ASSOCIATES. June, 4, 1964 [June 14, 1963], No. 23301/64. Heading H1D. A klystron has a radiofrequency interaction section 66 which comprises a plurality of plates of magnetic material 71-81 disposed along and transversely to the beam axis, each plate having a drift tube section for passage of the beam with resonant cavities being defined between adjacent pairs of plates, and a plurality of permanent magnets 131-140 disposed alternately with the plates along the beam axis to provide axial magnetic fields of alternate polarity between the plates. The resonant cavities 29-33 may be formed between the plates of successive pairs of plates and adjacent plates between which a cavity is not defined are electrically connected together by a cylindrical, non-magnetic member 13-17. The chambers 102-107 thus formed between each resonator have a coolant flowing therethrough, the chambers being serially connected by conduits. Tuning of each cavity is by plunger. |
