The sensor (10) has sensing electrodes (20) arranged at a head part (50) of the sensor in a housing of the sensor, where the head part of the sensor forms a sensitive surface of the sensor. The sensing electrodes transfer a signal in dependence of the level of fluid, granular and powdery substances in a container to a logic device (30). The logic device evaluates the signal for the acquisition of the level and time-dependently or event-dependantly actuates a vibration transmitter (40), so that the vibration transmitter produces vibrations on the sensitive surface of the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for cleaning of the surface of a sensor.
