PURPOSE: An evaluation method for the thermoelectric figure-of-merit of a thermoelectric element is provided to easily perform the evaluation of a thermoelectric material. CONSTITUTION: Temperatures of a thermal plate and a cooling plate are sensed, and if the temperature of the thermal plate and the temperature of the cooling plate are identical, electric conductivity is measured(S1000,S1010). Other power supply is applied to the thermal plate and the cooling plate respectively to allow the temperature difference between the thermal plate and the cooling plate to become a gradient value added temperature difference added with a fixed gradient value(S1020). Thermal conductivity, voltage difference between both ends, and temperature difference are repetitively measured by the unit of 2K(S1030,S1040,S1050). It is determined whether the gradient value added temperature difference is the preset gradient value added temperature difference, and if it is the preset gradient value added temperature difference, Seebeck coefficients are calculated(S1060). When the Seebeck coefficient, electric conductivity, thermal conductivity, and voltage difference between both ends are obtained, the thermoelectric figure-of-merit or thermoelectric generating efficiency of a thermoelectric element specimen is calculated(S1070).
