<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compare estimated CO2 concentration with detected CO2 concentration, and accurately diagnose a combustion condition not only when the detected CO2 concentration is higher than the estimated CO2 concentration but also when the detected CO2 concentration is not higher. <P>SOLUTION: The estimated CO2 concentration CO2_p in exhaust gas during complete combustion is set on the basis of a parameter Q, A/F and Ne for detecting an engine operating condition (S2). A normal combustion zone CO2_p±Δα set on the basis of the estimated CO2 concentration CO2_p is compared with the detected CO2 concentration vCO2 detected by a CO2 sensor 18 disposed in an exhaust passage 15 (S4, S6). The combustion condition is determined according to the air/fuel ratio A/F when the CO2 concentration vCO2 deviates from the normal combustion zone CO2_p±Δα (S7, S9-S12). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
