<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency of operation by efficient use of an image forming apparatus by obtaining the information of the compatible application software according to the update of the program. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a display part; a system program; a storage part that can store an application program that achieves functions using the system program; and a communication part that communicates with an external storage device that stores the system program, application programs, and version information of these programs.
