A device and a method for releasing the stop mode of an air conditioner are provided to release a stop mode but restore a normal mode according to the temperature of an indoor evaporator even in the absence of external inputs, thereby protecting the air conditioner from the freezing of the indoor evaporator. A device for releasing the stop mode of an air conditioner includes temperature sensors(58, 68) and a control part(104). The temperature sensors sense the temperature of evaporators and have resistance values which vary according to the sensed evaporator temperature. The control part releases the stop mode of the air conditioner based on the sensed evaporator temperature. |
