1321286 Electro-photography XEROX CORP 30 June 1970 [1 July 1969] 31550/70 Heading G2H In a cyclic xerographic process, a drum having a photo-conductive surface (e.g. of selenium) is treated with a Lewis acid or base (depending on charge polarity) to stabilise the electrical properties of the recycling photo-conductive surface and enable effective cleaning between each cycle. The acid or base may be included in a liquid developer or applied after transfer of the developed image, and is preferably smeared over the drum's surface and then removed using a web or absorbent cotton. Specified acids and bases are crystal violet, malachite green, pararosaniline, basic fuchsin, rhodamine B, iosin, erthrosine, fluoroscein, nigrosine, aniline black, tetraphenyl porphine, copper chlorophyllin, methylene blue, thionine, triphenylamine, anthracene, pyrene, fluorene, acridene, carbazole, anthrazol blue, napthol blue black, benzoazurin, 2, 4, 7-trinitrofluorenone, tetrachloro phthalic anhydride, chloranil, fluoranil, anthraquinone, and 2-dicyanomethylene-1, 3- inanedione. Developer carrier liquids, pigments, dispersants and proportions are specified. |
