<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and safely perform personal authentication using images. <P>SOLUTION: In a personal authentication system 1, an information processor Js is connected to a terminal Ts via a network NW, and registers an image, which is selected by an authentication target person from images retrieved on the Internet with a pass image retrieval word based on taste information of the person, or an image created by the person with a mass memory 25 as a pass image, and also stores similar images, which is retrieved by using an image retrieved with a retrieval word of a superordinate concept of the pass image retrieval word or the pass image as a retrieval image, in the mass memory 25 as decoy images. On receiving a personal authentication request from the terminal Ts, the information processor Js generates an authentication image selection screen composed of the pass image and the plurality of decoy images stored in the mass memory 25, transmits the created authentication image selection screen to the terminal Ts, and determines whether an image selected by the terminal Ts is the pass image.
