1337279 Vertical slat blinds HUNTER DOUGLAS 23 Nov 1970 [26 March 1970] 45230/70 Heading E1J A control device for a shutter with vertical slats comprises threaded and splined spindles 2, 3, a slat supporting carriage 6 (Figs. 1 and 5) in which a worm 8 on splined spindle 3 engages a gear 10 supporting a slat for pivotal movement about a vertical axis, a conveying carriage 6a (Figs. 1 and 4) in which a braking device includes a worm 8 on the threaded spindle and a gear 10, and two meshing gears 17, 18 are mounted on respective spindles 2, 3. Spindle 2 is rotated by chain 5 and engaging gears 17, 18 causes rotation of spindle 3 and worm 8 in carriage 6 and hence pivoting of the slat. Simultaneously, worm 8 in carriage 6a turns gear 10 and cam 13 and allows braking arms 14 to retract. The threads of worms 8 then abut surfaces 12a. Threaded nut 17a and worm 8 in carriage 6a move the carriage along the spindle 2, and straps 21 draw the carriages 6 behind. Rotation of spindle 2 in the opposite direction then extends arms 14 to brake the carriage 6a, spindle 3 then rotates the slats and the arms retractuntil the worm threads abut surfaces 12a and then carriage 6a returns along the spindles collecting carriages 6. |
