PURPOSE: A vehicle camera system for measuring a distance and a method thereof for providing distance information are provided to display images photographed the outside of a vehicle with the quantitative information of a distance to an object existed in an image by using numbers, thereby reducing risks of collision and a contact. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle camera system for measuring a distance comprises a display module(100), a camera module(200), and an image processing module(300). The display module outputs images and text information on a screen. The camera module includes a viewing camera(210) and a TOF(Time of Flight) camera(220). The image processing module receives output distance information of the TOF camera and output images of the viewing camera and combines the same, thereby displaying the combined information by using the display module.
