<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an even charging on a surface of a charged body even when the surface of the charged body includes an uneven potential when charging the surface of the charged body such as an image carrier using a contact charging device, and suppress bad influences to charging caused by adhesion of foreign matters such as toner to a charging member. <P>SOLUTION: A charging member 11 provided with a plurality of conductive parts 11a and insulating parts 11b is made to contact with a surface of an image carrier 1. When the surface of the image carrier is charged by applying a voltage on the charging member, one insulating part of the charging member is positioned in the image carrier movement direction upstream side, and one conductive part is made gradually separated from the surface of the image carrier toward the movement direction downstream side of the image carrier, thus allowing the insulating part and the conductive part to contact with the surface of the image carrier. The charging member is moved to replace the conductive part and the insulating part contacting with the surface of the image carrier with another conductive part and insulating part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
