The circuit device (21) has a primary circuit portion in which the electric current is flown through a primary inductance (3) when the electronic switch (T1) such as insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) is switched ON. A control unit is arranged to control the switching ON and OFF of the electronic switch. A secondary inductance (13) is magnetically connected to primary inductance. A controllable auxiliary switch (15) of the secondary circuit portion (14) is switched ON when the electronic switch is switched OFF. An independent claim is included for method for operating circuit device.
