[Also in Division A4] A windscreen wiper control for a vehicle comprising a three-position switch and a control unit providing intermittent operation of the wipers, has the control unit detachably mounted on the switch casing by plug-and-socket connector parts. As shown, spindle 15 carries a moulded rotor 19 supporting a printed circuit board 16 for co-operation with fixed contacts such as 17, some of which are connected to sockets such as 18 and some to blade terminals. An " off " position and three " on " positions are angularly located by ball detent 22. The control unit 25 is mounted by plug connectors such as 26. The first "on" position of the switch provides slow speed of wipers, the second provides fast speed, and the third energizes the control unit 25 to provide intermittent wipe at preset intervals. The spindle 15 is also axially movable with respect to the board 16 and upon depression causes insulating button 27 to move a blade 28 into contact with a blade 31 for energizing a windscreen washer pump motor.</p> |
