<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently obtain effect of fuel consumption improvement by EGR, even when a misfire limit varies. <P>SOLUTION: In an engine evaluation device: an operation condition determination part determines whether an engine meets a predetermined operation condition; when the engine meets the operation condition, an opening control part gradually changes an opening of an EGR valve in the same opening direction; a combustion rate calculation part calculates a combustion rate of fuel supplied into a cylinder of the engine with each change in the opening by the opening control part; a combustion rate comparison part compares the calculated combustion rate with a reference combustion rate; a limit value decision part decides a limit value showing an upper limit of the usable opening in normal engine control, on the basis of a result compared by the combustion rate comparison part; and a map production part produces a map which associates the decided limit value with the operation condition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
