Method for characterization of electro-optic component for electric circuit, involves holding component by generation and extraction of carriers, and determining mobility, density and service life of carriers in optical excited material

The method involves electroless-holding of an electro-optic component by generation and extraction of photo-generated charge carriers by applying external voltage. Mobility, density and service life of the charge carriers in an optical excited material (3) are determined. The electro-optic component is held by applying transients of open terminal voltage. Steady linear rising voltage ramp is set as an extraction pulse on the electro-optic component. The electro-optic component is optically excited by electrically-pulsed LEDs (1). An independent claim is also included for a device for characterization of an electro-optic component.
