摘要 An array substrate for an LCD and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to adopt a top gate type TFT for protecting an active layer against external pollutants by a gate electrode, thereby minimizing leakage current in the active layer. A plurality of pixel regions are defined on a substrate. A data line(102) is formed in one direction, wherein the data line has an etch hole(EH) for each pixel region. A gate line(114) crosses the data line to define while the etch hole of the data line is disposed below the gate line. A pixel electrode(118) is formed within each pixel region. A TFT(T) is positioned at a crossing point of the gate line and the data line. The TFT is composed of an active layer(108) formed in the etch hole, a gate electrode(116) formed on the active layer, a source electrode(124) contacted with the active layer and the data line, and a drain electrode(126) contacted with the active layer and the pixel electrode.
