PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus for enabling a driver to viscerally recognize a type of a road on which a vehicle runs after the vehicle makes a right turn or a left turn without viewing a map. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus of the invention includes: recording means 21 for recording map data; location identifying means 9 for identifying a current location of the vehicle; route searching means 13 for searching a guide route; indicating means 7, 25 for indicating arrows 47, 49 for guiding the right turn or the left turn; and control means 13 for determining whether the vehicle approaches a guide point for guiding the right turn or the left turn, and causing the indication means 7 to indicate the arrows 47, 49 if the vehicle approaches the guide point. The control means 13 determines the type of the road after the vehicle makes the right turn or the left turn at the guide point, causes the indication means 7 to indicate the arrows 47, 49 by the first color if the type of the road is the first type, and causes the indication means 7 to indicate the arrows 47, 49 by the second color if the type of the road is the second type.
